Frequently Asked Questions
Each EBC disc range is built for a different job:
• Vee-Series (VR) - British-made using German mill-rolled precision stainless steel, with a weight-reducing Vee profile and EBC's patented SD square drive button.
• Solid discs - 100% British made from heat-treated and tempered DB420 stainless steel, a direct bolt-on replacement for your original disc.
• Enduro CE Series - made in the UK from tough German mill-rolled, heat-treated stainless steel with no vent holes in the pad sweep area, improving pad and disc wear for off-road and enduro use.
• X-Series - floating discs for road and sport bikes.
Use the fitment tool on this page and we'll match the right EBC disc range to your bike.
Every EBC disc listed here is matched to specific makes, models and years, not a generic universal fit.
• Use the 'Add your bike' fitment search at the top of this page to filter to your exact model.
• Cross-check the year range shown in the product title against your bike's registration date.
• Still not sure? Send us your reg or model details and we'll confirm fitment before you order.
EBC's Solid and Vee-Series discs are manufactured in the UK from German mill-rolled, heat-treated and tempered stainless steel, and the Enduro CE Series is built to the same UK manufacturing standard for off-road use. Every disc we stock is genuine and sourced through official channels - never grey-market.
Not always mandatory, but strongly recommended if your current pads are part-worn or glazed.
• Worn or glazed pads transfer unevenly onto a fresh disc surface, reducing your initial bite and shortening the new disc's life.
• If your pads are recent, evenly worn and free of glazing, they can usually stay - just check the contact patch matches the new disc.
• Fitting both together gets you the full performance EBC designed in from day one, rather than a compromise while pads catch up.
Every EBC disc is stamped with a MIN TH (minimum thickness) figure in millimetres.
• Measure the disc with a vernier caliper at several points around its circumference - the lowest reading is the one that counts.
• If any reading is at or below the stamped MIN TH figure, replace both discs on that axle, even if only one measures thin.
• Deep grooves, blue discolouration from overheating, or a pulsing feel at the lever are also signs it's time.
A light surface bloom after damp storage, rain or a wash is normal on any stainless disc and isn't a fault - it clears within the first few miles of braking and doesn't affect performance. EBC's Solid and Vee-Series discs use heat-treated, tempered stainless steel for long-term durability. Deep pitting or rust that doesn't clear once you're riding again is worth getting checked, but a light bloom on a bike that's been sat is completely expected.
