As well all know the middleweight naked motorcycles are on the rise, but which is most popular? That's a question for which the answer can tell us the most in demand bike out there. So here are some statistics.

Note we can only really look to historical data when we look for the most popular motorcycle, because current data is still evolving, based on manufacturers pushing current models the statistics might change for 2024, so we can look to 2023 for some confirmed insight on the trend, and it may not be so surprising.

MV Agusta Brutale 800RR
2023 MV Agusta Brutale 800RR

First off and in fourth place we have the MV Agusta Brutale 800RR. You may be thinking looking at a piece of art and saying to yourself, why has it landed in 4th? Well the data speaks for itself being more of a niche brand with less support/show rooms and other supportive tasks for long term ownership this bike sold quite a low number of new registrations in 2023, a total of 13. Yes you read that right, 13 bikes sold in the whole of the UK in 2023. A rare ownership opportunity if you were one of those (lucky number?) 13.

2023 KTM 890 Duke R

Next up for most in demand for 2023? The 2023 KTM 890 Duke R. This bike did over ten times better than the MV Augusta, more dealerships, bigger network and easier servicing done the trick? The KTM sold 115 new units for 2023 here in the UK, pushing it not just above the MV but quite frankly in a solid way.

Ducati Streetfighter V2

It needs hardly much introduction, the Ducati, probably one of the best looking it generates appeal just being part of the Ducati brand and borrowing sleek styling from the rest of their range, and the infamous Ducati Red, which over the years is possibly even getting better? They sold around 143 units in 2023. Not far off the KTM which is surprising given the extra price tag that it has surpassed the KTM in units sold.

Triumph Street Triple 765 RS

The winner is the Triumph Street Triple. As a company ever since John Bloor bought Triumph Motorcycles in 1983 after the company went into receivership it's been making huge leaps. Bloor, a former plasterer who made his fortune in property development, invested over £80 million in the company and relaunched it as a premium motorcycle manufacturer. Triumph Motorcycles is now a privately owned company with Bloor Holdings Limited as its parent company. John Bloor and his son Nick, who is the CEO, still run the company. The dealer support, capable motorcycle and great design as well as perhaps, the British mark, have made this a top seller here. It sold around 920 units in 2023.

Conclusion

European middleweight naked bikes have taken the motorcycle world by storm there's no doubt about that, offering a compelling combination of performance, style, and technology. Whether you're a seasoned rider or a newcomer wanting a manageabe steed, there's a European naked bike out there that's perfect for you.
